Long stuck in fourth place, T-Mobile made itself a relevant mobile player in the United States again on Tuesday, with plans to rapidly roll out its 4G LTE network and offer bargain plans with no contracts to entice potential customers.
Oh, and it now offers that quaint little device called the iPhone 5.

Having run out of patience for Congress to act on a cybersecurity bill, President Obama has decided to take matters into his own hands.
Obama signed an executive order on Tuesday addressing the country’s most basic cybersecurity needs and highlighted the effort in his State of the Union address.
”We cannot look back years from now and wonder why we did nothing in the face of real threats to our security and our economy,” Obama said.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — A new kind of global arms race is unfolding — and this one is measured in petaflops.
Titan, the U.S. Department of Energy’s top open science computer, is going live on Monday with an upgrade that will likely make it the fastest supercomputer on the planet. At 20 petaflops — that’s 20 quadrillion calculations each second — Titan outperforms by four petaflops the DOE’s Sequoia supercomputer, which has held the crown since June. The official “Top 500″ ranking of the world’s fastest supercomputers will be announced next month.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — Personal 3-D printers are getting more powerful and more advanced every year. The latest models, on display last weekend at New York’s annual Maker Faire, can crank out everything from model Eiffel Towers to wearable high-heeled shoes.
Swarms of hobbyists, parents and kids descended upon the event’s 3-D printing village to test out the latest innovations, including the Form 1 — a printer aimed at professionals that creates high-resolution objects using a method called stereolithography.
